Pete Miles Wins Scottish Open 2025

Pete Miles Wins Scottish Open 2025

And just like that, the 2025 season is underway. The Scottish Open 2025 will be held in Largs at the Sports Scotland National Centre on January 18th and 19th.

Bradley Stoke Judo Club had a large team of Seniors (over 21) and juniors (under 21) travel up to compete. Head Coach Pete Douglas and support coach Sarah Bigweed joined them in the coaching chair.

The team had a brilliant weekend showcasing some super judo and winning some outstanding medals; the complete list of results is below,

The highlight of this weekend must be the return to the podium's top step for long-term members of BSJC, Sliver Youth Olympic medalist 2013, European and World Bronze medalist as a Cadet, and multiple-time British Champion Pete Miles. After two years off the mat recovering from shoulder surgery and 7 years since last stepping on the podium's top step, Pete fought in the under-66 senior category. He won all his fights, including full-time athletes and European judoka, to become Scottish Open Champion 2025!

Once again, the women under 63kg showcased their brilliance, with Millie Baylis taking Sliver in the Juniors on Saturday and Phoebe Bigweed taking Sliver in the Senior on Sunday!

Alongside this, Ben Moore, who was under-73kg, took a Bronze medal in the Juniors and followed this up with a fifth-place finish in the seniors the day after. Amie McMurray, under 52kg, took a Bronze in the Juinors and followed this up with a 5th Place in the Seniors!

BSJC Head Coach Pete Douglas described the weekend: "The whole team fought above and beyond, and all deserved to end up on the podium. It was great to have Pete Miles back on the team. I am always proud to Coach these guys who give so much."

Well done, BSJC!
